K9 Stryker from the Oceanside Police Department was killed last night, 12-31-07 at approx 1945 hours. At the end of a high speed pursuit the felony suspect ran from the vehicle. K9 Stryker was deployed and took down the suspect in the middle of the Coronado Bridge.

As the officers made their approach the suspect got up, ran over to the edge of the bridge (with the dog still attached to his arm) and proceeded to jump off the bridge and fall 200 feet into the water. K9 Stryker was killed instantly. The suspect was taken into custody with only broken ribs from the fall.
